What Are Tooth-Colored Fillings?

Dental fillings repair tooth structures that have been damaged by decay, helping to keep the tooth healthier in the long run. Tooth-colored fillings are made from composite resin. This is a putty-like mixture that can be shaped to match the rest of the tooth’s structure. These fillings contain no metal at all, and they are shaded to match the natural tooth color. No one will be able to tell that your child has had a tooth filled when they look at their smile!

The Process of Getting a Tooth-Colored Filling

Tooth-colored fillings can usually be completed in a single appointment. First, Dr. Amar will numb the area with a local anesthetic to ensure that they remain perfectly comfortable throughout the procedure. Then, they will remove the decayed and damaged portions of the tooth and sanitize it.

Once the tooth is prepared, Dr. Amar will apply the color-matched composite resin to the tooth in layers until all of the lost enamel is restored. The composite resin will be hardened using an ultraviolet light. Lastly, the tooth is shaped and polished for a natural finish!
